All over Finland, there is 12 protected Finnish products. Some from Protected Designation Origin (PDO), others Traditional Speciality Guaranteed (TSG) and others Protected Geographical Indication (PGI).
Do you know them all? We give you a little help
As a PDO there is the Kitkan viisas, a vendance from the Lake Kitka, the Lapin Puikula, a northern potato variety; the so good Lapin Poron Kylmäsavuliha, that is the cold smoked reindeer; the Lapin Poron liha that is the reindeer meat and last one the Lapin Poron kuivaliha, that is the dried meat.
As a TSG, there is the Sahti beer, with no additives, not filtered or pasteurised, the Kalakukko, a fish and pork pie and the Karjalanpiirakka (Karelian pie).
As PGI the Puruveden muikku (Vendace from Lake Puruvesi),the Kainuun rönttönen (Rye pie with lingonberries) and Suomalainen Marjalikööri, Suomalainen Hedelmälikööri (Finnish berry liqueur and Finnish fruit liqueur).
